PST Championship to be Hosted at Detroit Athletic Club
Over 150 years old and played by more than 20 million people in 185 countries, squash has shown sustained growth in the U.S. in recent years. Forbes Magazine recently released a survey which declared squash the best sport in the world for getting fit and staying in shape. The Pro Squash Tour season begins in August and runs through May when its Tour Championship will be held in Detroit, Michigan at the Detroit Athletic Club.
Players earn points and prize money at tournaments throughout the season. On May 4, the tour's top 8 players will be invited to Detroit in a single elimination tournament to decide the season champion.
"The Detroit Athletic Club is one of the nation's great, historic clubs," stated PST Commissioner Joe McManus. "PST is pleased to be partnering with this magnificent institution to crown our tour's next Champion."
Many organizations have left their mark on Detroit's 300 years as a city, but few have impacted the community as much as the Detroit Athletic Club (DAC). Like a boulder in the middle of a river, the DAC has shaped more than 120 years of Detroit history since it was established in 1887. Over the years the Club has been honored as one of the finest in the nation. It has always been home to world-class Olympic and amateur athletes as well as professionals, with the clubhouse playing host to regional, national and international tournaments and exhibitions of all types, from boxing and fencing to swimming and squash.
