Q and A with Chris Lloyd:
Where were you born?Hamilton, NZ
When did you start playing squash? Age 5 with a 4 year break (9-14)
Did you ever play other sports at a high level? Soccer(better then squash), athletics(average)did a 4m29 mile couple of times.
Why did you choose to play squash professionally? Had a chance to represent NZ at squash, more opportunity then the other 2. After that I just didn't want a real job.
Single/ married? Where do you live now? Married, live between Auckland NZ and Boston , MA.
Do you prefer glass or panel courts? Plaster, panels suck! Glass is nice but I haven't played on it enough to like it or dislike it.
Who do you enjoy playing squash with? Anyone who pays me to be on there.
Who is your least favorite opponent? Martin Knight
What do you think of Point Every Rally (no-let squash)? Haven't tried the no let version yet but I guess it could be good once I get my head around how to beat the cheating F#@kers that block.
Do you smoke? Drink? Do you avoid certain foods? Dont Smoke. Drink Bi-annually (Herne Bay Open , Te Puke Open) Avoid a fair few veges not much else.
Greatest accomplishment on the court? Nothing special, Winning first round of world juniors, taking a game off a top 50 player
Thoughts on squash in America? Packed full of kids with a lot of depth compared to NZ then seems to be lost after college. but attracts top players due to tournaments and extra money to be had helping out the pros at clubs
Goal for a post-squash career? Hoping to be a successful coach. Hope to build a reputation and following similar to the one a fellow kiwi Dan Sharplin has earned himself in MA and the east coast.
