Q & A with Wade:
Where were you born? Perth, Western Australia
When did you start playing squash? I was very young, but competitively at 12.
Did you ever play other sports at a high level? Cricket
Why did you choose to play squash professionally? I didn't plan on it, it just sort of happened as a natural progression. I always wanted to be a professional athlete, but didn't care what sport, but between cricket and squash it was a simple decision. It's a fast paced game with lots of thinking. I love the workout and the mental challenge.
Why did you choose PST? It's so much more exciting and with the "No Lets" I believe it brings the game back to the way it is supposed to be played where the player has to play the ball, not the player and if you hit a bad shot you have to work to get back in a winning position, instead of creating a let situation.
Age? Single/ married? 29, Married
Where do you live now? Baltimore, USA
What part of your game do you take the most pride in? I love volleying.
What part of your game are working on improving? There is so much to choose from, length, volleying, lobs, drop shots, short game, volleying, you name it........
Who is your favorite opponent? John White, he makes me not think and just react and that's when I play my best. Plus it's a ridiculous workout with Whitey.
Who is your least favorite opponent? Well I'd love to mention names, but I won't.........sorry
What do you think of Point Every Rally (no-let squash)? It's the way of the future if people will only open their eyes.
Do you smoke? Drink? Do you avoid certain foods? Don't smoke, never even tried a cigarette. I go months without having a drink, but I do fancy a tipple. Only avoid foods I don't like.
What do you eat for breakfast? It's probably the most exciting meal I have of the day. 1 cup of plain oatmeal and 3 hard boiled eggs.
Greatest accomplishment on the court? Making the main draw and losing in 5 of the CIMB Malaysian Open. Was a big event and I beat two higher ranked players.
Thoughts on squash in America? It's growing rapidly at the junior level, but unfortunately due to some bad decisions by certain people, it has now been stagnated at the Professional level.
Goal for a post-squash career? Keep on coaching and keep playing squash. Maybe not professionally, but it's for life.
